Aercon AAC Advertorial

Nov 2008

AERCON AAC (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) is changing the way America is building commercial, industrial and residential properties. According to Mike Quaka, vice president – general manager, AERCON Florida, LLC, hotel executives and managers are finding our product, AAC, not only innovative, but a product that will save them money every year that their hotel/motel is in operation.

Keith Rockman, owner and operator of Mainstay Suites in Panama City, Florida is one such hotel owner who has seen the benefits of AERCON AAC. "When I was introduced to AERCON AAC, I had a hard time believing a masonry product with half the weight of cinder blocks could be as strong. But I came to see that in addition to being lighter and stronger, AAC also has superior sound insulation, an excellent fire rating and is virtually impervious to pests. Building with AERCON AAC has helped me reduce maintenance and insurance costs and keep more money in my bank."

According to Quaka, AAC has been used throughout the world for decades; however, many buildings in the United States have also been constructed using AAC with minimal awareness. In North Charleston, South Carolina, the Hyatt Place – Montague and the Hyatt Place – Ashley are two hotels currently being built using AAC rather than traditional materials. But AAC, while being the perfect building material for hotels and motels, is also being used very effectively by residential and commercial developers including our very own military. At the Moody Air Force Base, a 120 person dorm was specifically designed to be built with AAC, making it AERCON’s eighth military dormitory.

With an impressive list of benefits and features, AERCON offers an innovative building material for the next generation. AAC has unlimited workability, can be easily drilled, nailed, sawed and milled, and requires no furring, insulation or drywall resulting in reduced time and labor costs. Customers also benefit from lower maintenance and insurance costs as AAC lowers heating and cooling costs, outperforms wood and concrete masonry’s thermal insulation, is the highest UL fire rating in the industry, and is approved for use in hurricane prone areas. On top of that, AERCON AAC has excellent acoustic insulation, making it the ideal building material for the hotel/motel and restaurant industry.

And for those looking for an environmentally-friendly product to build with, need to look no further than AAC. The University of Indianapolis did just that and will open the doors to its newest residence hall in 2009. They are using AAC not only for its many great benefits but also because of its green qualities. AERCON AAC is an environmentally-friendly building material made from sand, lime, cement, water and a rising agent that is made in blocks, lintels and panels for use in residential and commercial construction. Along with it’s impressive list of features and benefits over more traditional building materials, AERCON AAC generates no pollutants or hazardous wastes, it is completely recyclable, it is produced with little waste by-product and it is made in a short, energy-conserving 24-hour manufacturing process.

"Furthermore, with our product being a green material with many LEED points associated with this, AAC is indeed not only the product of the future but will help maintain our environment in years to come," adds Quaka.

Keith Rockman sums it up best, "As a building material, these concrete blocks are worth their weight in gold."
